The Complicated Guy/Gal

You know there's that one friend we all have, who is a douche? The one who's always mean. And picking on you. And calling you names. And irritating you. And taking the joy out of everything? Buzz kill.

But...

That one person is there for you. When you need it. They listen to your over dramatic but minuscule problems...they advice you, then make fun of you. They irritate you...then say sorry.

It's like, I like you. But I'll be mean to you. But I want you to like me too. Coz this is who I am. Bitch.

It's probably the best friendship you have. Believe me. Nothing is stronger than accepting a person for who they are...rather than expecting them to change. Or making them change. Would you change yourself, just to make someone else happy?

It's probably the core of all relationships. Accept, Trust and be Honest. Everything else will make sense then.

(I'm sure if my bunch of douchy friends read this, they'll criticise it...but I love 'em anyway!)

To Friendship!

Heartbeat

Last night, as I was falling asleep, I could hear this constant beating sound. My head was on the pillow and I could hear it...with a constant beat every second. I knew what it was. But it made me think...as a kid, I didn't know what it was. And I had many theories about it.

1. Little ants are gathering matchsticks
2. Little men are cleaning my pillow while singing songs
3. Little people are playing African Drums
4. Someone is washing clothes inside my pillow
5. Partayyy!

Anyway...for those of you who are still lost, that sound is a heartbeat. Sound is clearest through solids. So my heartbeat could be heard so clearly because the sound of it traveled through my body into the solid pillow.

This made me realise...the heart is such a small organ. Yet it plays such a huge role in our life. It's what makes us survive. Literally! Physically, it pumps blood throughout the body. Emotionally, it makes us love...and emote otherwise.

That moment while I was lying down, I heard my heartbeat for almost 15 minutes continuously. Those were the longest 15 minutes of my life. But it was a moment that made me realise how time flies. How I can utilise 15 minutes in life. Time is a sort of perspective. It depends on how we look at it. We just don't have control over it. That's all.

Such a small thing...such a loud message. The wonders of life.

What is Love?

I'd like to tell you a story. A story of a young woman who fell in love.
She fell in love, like any other adolescent...pictured it all with him; and beyond.
The love was reciprocated. With half mind and half soul.
"But who cares?" She thought.
I'm the other half...mind and soul.

After all, love is a two way street. It's not that complicated.
Why do people ponder, cry and die, over a feeling so elated?
It's filled with moments, joy and kindness.
Some ups and downs too, but it's not always a mess.
People and their nonsensical thoughts!

A few months down the lane. So empty. So cold.
He broke her heart. Went off with another.
One that reciprocated with full mind and full soul.
Is this love? Is this how it feels?
Dead, cold and full of cries and appeals?

It's not nonsensical.
It's not a two way street. It never was.
It's always a one way street.
Whether reciprocated or not.

Crossing Roads!

Crossing the road is a task and a half. I mean if you live in a country like India, you've to look all directions...have a 360 degree vision yo!

I've been in Canada for 3 weeks now. And crossing roads here is easy peasy. They have the signal to let you know when you can cross. You don't have to do the whole "look right..look left..yada yada.." Now, you just have to stare at a signal that has a walking man.

Ever noticed how awkward it is when you're crossing the road? I mean if you're a group of people, all well and good. But when it's a couple of people...or you're alone. Man! It's like all eyes on you bro! And you don't know what to do? Do you smile? Wave? Look down? Why should I look down? I'm not ashamed. Should I do a dance and entertain them? Should I look straight? If I don't smile, they're gonna think I'm a bitch. OMG I'm the chicken crossing the road!

See in India that's not a problem. Because while you're moving, so is the traffic.

So many thoughts. So many awkward moments. Or maybe it's just me. Let me know. If it is...then I need some serious help.

Stay safe.

(I really couldn't think of anything else to blog about...any ideas are more than welcome.)

Updates, Travel, Thoughts & Discussions

I know I haven't blogged in ages and the handful of people who actually read my blog, I sincerely apologise. But I do have my reasons. I'm travelling! From Bangalore to Dubai to New York to Toronto! Yes. That's a lot. Expect a lot of travelogues soon!

Moving on, recently, while I was in Bangalore, my career options dawned upon me. I decided that travel journalism is it. I mean, who doesn't love travelling? And I also discussed all these thoughts with my friends and family. To which many people asked me or told me, "Watch Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani!" and am like...okay? Apparently the main character is a traveler. Yay him!

So 2 days back, I finally watched the movie. I'm not going to review it. But this further led to a more interesting conversation with my sister. I said the movie was ironic as the character who had traveled the most knew less about life than the character who had stayed put in one city. To which my sister added on..."Travelers go and see touristy places; the same place that every man would see. One who stays put in a place knows every corner of the city...they explore the unexplored and discover something new." Which is life, right? We'd all rather discover something new rather than dwell on the same things over and over.

So that's my post folks. More will come up probably around September.
Happy Summer everyone! :)
