#selfie

A few weeks back, my friends and I were discussing the concept of a selife. What is a selfie? In simple terms, it's when one takes a picture of himself by clicking at the time; no timer, no anything..or at least that's my understanding.

However, we were looking at it from a different point of view. Do we take selifes because we are lonely? I mean, think about it...you're taking a perfect picture of yourself, just so that the other people (who look at the selfie) can appreciate it...unless of course you do not upload it on a social network...in which case...you just take selfies, for fun? I dunno.

On the other hand, maybe selfies help you increase your self confidence? I mean, you keep clicking pictures of yourself until you click the perfect one, where everything is flawless. That increases your self confidence, because for once, your mirror and the camera reached an agreement. However, there are also a variety of selifies...like "ugly selfies" and "tape selfies"...but let's not go there.

It's all a technology dominant world. Let's try and bring back the days of film roll cameras...where a picture was actually worth a thousand words...and not a loss of thousand words, like today. With that, I shall end with The Chainsmoker's parody on "selfies". Enjoy!

Blind Faith

Blind faith is a controversial topic. It involves the one thing that unites, yet breaks groups: Religion. Thankfully, that's not the focal of this post.

Many people believe in God. And even if they don't, they probably do when certain things are needed. Like passing exams. Or the mere expression, "Oh My God!"...oh I'm sorry. "OMG!" Although, that's not faith. It's just...an expression.

But why do people question the faith? "You can't see God! How do you know he exists?" Well dude, I can't see your brain. How do I know that it exists?! Pfft. (Okay fine the brain has been scientifically proven to exist and blah blah...but I didn't see his. Therefore he doesn't have one. If he can have that theory, so can I).

Moving on...blind faith works in mysterious ways. For example...when we fall in love, we'd do anything for the other person. Without second thoughts. It's quite stupid. We also do the same for friends...we do stupid things together.

As many people would see it all as a negative...I think it's good to have blind faith. If I didn't have blind faith in God, I'd have no one to make deals with. I'd probably actually gamble and lose money. If I didn't have blind faith in love, I'd not trust my family. If I didn't have blind faith in friendship, I'd not have the memories of those stupid moments, that now lead me to nostalgic thoughts.

Ergo, don't question faiths. Or I'll question your existence.

Bollywood

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
There's always a bunch of (Indian) people who claim, "I don't watch Bollywood movies because they are not artistic..." or "Because it's too much drama..." or "Too many songs!" and so on. I have a few things to say to you:

1. LET BOLLYWOOD BE! Man! It's called Bollywood for a reason. Not everyone is interested in working all day, and when it comes to leisure, using their minds to understand a complicated plot of some movie, and having to pay for it too! Sometimes, all the Indian audience appreciates is a little bit of humour, a few good songs and one or two dramatic scenes (coz what's life without drama?)

2. Quit comparing Bollywood with Hollywood. They are two different industries. Sure they both make movies. But the audiences are different. Furthermore, if Bollywood tries to stick to Hollywood's norms, Bollywood would lose it's identity and soul.

3. I do understand that there are quite a few movies that are...er...too much. In order to save me some writing space, watch some review videos by Kanan Gill. You shall understand:

Having established all that, I will give you a list of what I think are good Bollywood movies. And if you still aren't sure, you can always read online reviews.

A list of what I think are good Bollywood movies (in no specific order):

1. Wake Up Sid!
2. Gangs of Wasseypur
3. Udaan
4. English Vinglish
5. Iqbal
6. Rang De Basanti
7. Swades
8. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
9. Taare Zameen Par
10. Lootera

If you have anymore to add to the list, please comment below.

"We Are Entitled To Our Own Opinions"

In today's world, every argument ends the same, "We're entitled to our own opinions" or "That's your perspective!" and that's the end of that.

However, in certain aspects (take note that only in certain aspects and not all), does that barely matter. I believe that due to social networking, globalisation and well, technology in general, all our views are moulded into one. Everyone reads something online and everyone believes it.

We always complain about "that one idiot" who says something against what is posted, and we think his view is irrational or doesn't make sense. But you know what? He was man enough to post his opinion online. Many of us do not post our views online in fear of judgement from people, who follow the "social norms".

Of course, this isn't true for everyone. I'm just posting a thought. You're entitled to your own opinion.

New York, New York!

New York, New York
New York...a city of dreams. Sounds like something Fitzgerald would say. Actually, something he would precisely say: "The city seen from the Queensboro Bridge is always the city seen for the first time, in it's first wild promise of all the mystery and beauty in the world." - F. Scott Fitzgerald on New York City.

New York City is a place that you would like to give time and patience to explore. There's just so much to do and so much to see. Taking a tour bus would be ideal if you are staying a short while. But if you have the time (and energy), I suggest you just walk most of the city and make use of the trains. Walking would be the best option as you'd see a lot!

There's lots to do in New York City. There's the mainstream tourism - The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, The Photography Museum, Times Square, Broadway, Empire State, Freedom Tower, Central Park, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Wall St and many more things. However, here's a list of things that I personally enjoyed:

1. The Photography Museum: is conveniently located at 43rd street, busy ends. It looks pretty small, and it is. But it has millions worth of information. The photographs clicked are beyond amazing. There are creative displays such as tiny photographs made to look like windows of buildings. The place does not allow you to click photographs, but that's alright! Who wants to create art by clicking pictures of other art? Art is for appreciation.

The museum is under the International Center of Photography, so if you are interested, you could sign up to become a member.

Phantom of the Opera
2. The Museum of Modern Art: most commonly known as MoMA; one can easily spend a whole day at this museum. The place is filled with works by famous artists like Ansel Adams, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Henri Matisse, Salvador Dal, and many more. MoMA is a huge place to explore. There are different floors, categories and genres.

Times Square
3. Broadway: If you're in New York, please do try to go for a Broadway show! It's one of the best experiences ever. The show that we went for was The Phantom of the Opera. The show is magnificent, the acting is brilliant and the music is grand as ever. An interesting fact is the music is performed by music students from New York University some nights. Also, remember to dress up all fancy!

4. Times Square: Busy central! Times Square is a photographer's dream...sometimes. The place is always so busy, it's unbelievable! There are people dressed up as characters walking about, there's ten different genres of music playing about everywhere, there are street artists performing or painting, and there are the group of tourists clicking pictures from all sorts of angles. If you're the kind that likes to observe crowds, Times Square is the place for you. Grab a cup of coffee or a bowl of Cold Stone ice cream and just sit there, observing people. It's not the weirdest thing that can happen there, trust me!

View from the Empire State Building
5. Empire State Building: Catch the best view of New York City from the top of the Empire State Building. The best time to go is during the night, when the city is lit up and you photographers can capture some breathtaking pictures. It gets quite crowded, but everyone gets a chance to enjoy the view.

These are my top five "to do" things in New York. Comment below on what you would like to do or have done during your visit to the world's busiest city, New York!

It hurts...But Not Always

It hurts...
When I look at you,
Knowing I can't have you;
Temptation...no can do.

It hurts...
I stand there,
Staring at you...
Why can't you change?

It hurts...
I am not the only one;
There are millions,
Who feel alike.

It hurts...
When I smile,
When I cough,
or when I run a mile.

Two weeks later,
I feel better.
The pain is gone;
It was momentary;

I can have you, sweets.
You have changed, weight.
Motivation is all that's needed.
Exercise...is essential. And helpful.

'The Word Game'

So we played this game where we each have to say a word to form a sentence and then a story and so on. We then had the idea of jotting it down and I decided to post it on my blog, just for the fun of it! So have a good laugh people!

And a huge thanks to Mashal, Tanushree, Paulina and Sundeep!

WILD IMAGINATION

It was dark outside. There was a werewolf dancing along with fairies. Tanushree was a witch with a big head. Mermaids were playing with Sundeep in the park. Paulina was watching the ballet Olympics with her boyfriend and his brother, Miguel and Hulio. The Spanish hot boys were dancing with the vampires. Paulina fell in love with one of them. Anu was making out with her professor, Hulio. While the mermaids were sunbathing with Mashal in a rollercoaster, Tanushree cast a spell on Sundeep. Sundeep died. Zombies at his funeral saved him. They gave him vampire powers which made him insane making him fall in love with Bella Swan.

PAULINA’S SOCK

Paulina’s sock got lost because Mashal ate it. Firefighters were shirtless searching for Paulina’s sock. Then Sundeep found a frog and kissed the frog. Miracle happened. Sundeep turned into a frog. He kissed the previous frog and turned back to a female. Tanushree saw this and instantly fell in love with magic and snails without the shell. The firefighters stripped off their spacesuits wearing nothing but boxers which stank. Mashal fell ill because she drank fish and frog juice cooked in Paulina’s sock. She thought that it was real food (with no rice). A homeless guy blew up a Bentley that was Anu’s. Tanushree’s magic started a fire in the garage that overcooked Mashal’s food. Mashal’s tongue got burned. The firefighters ran, but left their trousers hanging from the trees outside Paulina’s room. Paulina closed her curtains because she was embarrassed. Her face had jellybeans and mushrooms. Meanwhile Sundeep changed his name to Lisa.
